Study Opportunities
Christian Formation
Our weekly Bible study, or Christian Formation, is held on Sunday mornings before Mass from September-April. We offer several groups of study that will meet from 10:00am-10:45am prior to Mass. Please see below for more details.

Ages 3-5 | Ages 6-8 | Ages 9-12
Children ages 3-12 will be divided into three classes based upon age. The 3-5 year olds will begin the year studying the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer, and the canticles that are sung during Mass each week. Our lesson will consist of previewing the Gospel Lesson for that Sunday beginning in Advent. We will travel throughout the church calendar, learning each season and its associated color.

Christian formation for children ages 6-8 will focus on the Ten Commandments, especially on what they teach us about God and how they form our Christian lives. Starting in Advent we will examine the life of our Lord Jesus Christ in the gospel accounts and how he calls us to be his followers.
In addition to the topics described above, all children will learn how our worship comes from scripture and the ancient tradition of the church.
Adults:
Christian Formation for the adult class will study the a book of the Bible. If you have any questions, please contact Father Randall.

Theology on Tap
Theology on Tap is a monthly book club that normally meets on the first Sunday of the month between September and April at El Mariachi in Blacksburg. Over dinner and drinks, Father Miller or Father Randall will lead a discussion on the book selected for that month. We invite you to come and fellowship with us and enjoy a captivating discussion. See our calendar or newsletter for specific dates and books.

Catechesis
Approximately twice a year, Father Miller begins a weekly catechesis class for those who are interested in joining our church or simply learning more about the basics of Anglicanism. Please speak with Father Miller to learn more.

Society of St. Alban
The Society of St. Alban is a Christian ministry for college-aged young adults. We welcome you to come worship the Lord in the beauty of the Anglican and Catholic faith. If you are seeking God, looking to grow deeper in faith, or if you are curious about our faith, we welcome you with open arms. Our namesake, St. Alban, was the first English martyr who died for the Christian faith. Like St. Alban, we are firm in our faith and seek to worship the Lord Jesus and proclaim his Holy Gospel with others. The group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in St.Philips, for an Evening Prayer service derived from the Book of Common Prayer. Learn more here.

Life Together
On Wednesday evenings from September to April, we will meet at the church as a parish family for a meal, evening prayer and short Bible study. See our calendar for specific dates and use the sign up sheet in the narthex to volunteer to bring food.
