Society of St. Alban

The Society of St. Alban is a Christian ministry for college-aged young adults. We welcome you to come worship the Lord in the beauty of the Anglican and Catholic faith. If you are seeking God, looking to grow deeper in faith, or if you are curious about our faith, we welcome you with open arms. Our namesake, St. Alban, was the first English martyr who died for the Christian faith. Like St. Alban, we are firm in our faith and seek to worship the Lord Jesus and proclaim his Holy Gospel with others.

Worship

We meet weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7pm at St.Philips, for an Evening Prayer service derived from the Book of Common Prayer. Prayer books and other materials are provided. Evensong is a tradition unique to the Anglican church and will be our form of worship occasionally on Wednesdays. Evensong is the evening prayer that is sung or chanted rather than spoken. Evening prayer usually lasts 20-30 minutes. After evening prayer we begin discussions of faith and enjoy a lite meal.

Please join us for Mass if you are able on Wednesdays at 12pm and  Sunday 11am. Holy Communion is offered to all who are baptised in the name of the Triune God.

How do I get there?

Worship is conducted in St. Philips Anglican Church. We do not have a parking lot, but we are just a short walk from campus! You are welcome to park up the street at Wong Park, just a short walk up the hill from the church, or in the public lot behind Sharkeys: please note there is a parking fee for this lot. If you are new to Virginia Tech and not familiar with the area, feel free to reach out to our prayer leader in advance who will gladly coordinate a way to get you here.

About Anglicanism

Anglicans continue the catholic faith we have received from Jesus through the apostles; which we originally received through the Church of England. Anglican simply means "English". We are English in origin and Catholic in our theology. If you have more questions about our church, feel free to contact a member of our clergy, Fr. Miller or Fr. Russell.
